After completing some learning on Sir Lewis Hamilton, as part of our significant people topic, Year 6 were very excited to have completed one of Lewis's Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths challenges. Lewis, in partnership with Teach First, has issued a series of STEM challenges to schools across England in order to engage children with STEM topics.
We spent some time looking at how F1 tracks were made and maintained, looking at the effect of the road surface on different forces that act on an F1 car during a race. The children then worked in pairs to check six surfaces throughout school to see which generates the most friction slowing the car down.
